UNIMOG AND SPRINTER VOTED BEST OFFROAD
Mercedes-Benz takes top billing among readers of OFFROAD magazine in Daimler homeland
Readers of Germany’s specialist OFFROAD magazine voted Mercedes-Benz Unimog ‘Off-road Vehicle of the Year’ for an incredible 17th time in a row, with second-placed Sprinter 4x4 the best of the vans in the same category.
Unimog, on its 75th birthday, was the landslide winner in the ‘Special Vehicle’ category with 54.9% of the vote.
The ‘universal power tool’ is popular around the globe for its ability to operate in extreme terrain across a wide range of applications.
“Unimog isn’t widely known in the New Zealand market, but it is very well-suited to our rugged conditions and can be configured for a variety of tasks in key industries, such as agriculture and forestry, as well as infrastructure maintenance and other specialist services,” says James Hudson-Owen, head of sales for Mercedes-Benz at Keith Andrews. “There are many options to choose from, so I would encourage people to give us a call to discuss how this truck could work for them.”
Responding to the win, George Nahas, Senior Manager Marketing & Support, Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks, said: “We at Mercedes-Benz can celebrate two events in 2021: the 75th birthday of our all-rounder Unimog and again the victory in the OFFROAD readers’ choice for off-road vehicle of the year in the special vehicles category.”
