FUSO’S 510HP/2,500NM BEAST!

A new high-power 510hp Shogun will be the most powerful Euro 6 Japanese truck available in New Zealand and is currently undergoing testing and transmission mapping on NZ roads.

Highly anticipated, the new 510hp Shogun will initially be available in two 6x4 wheelbase options – a tractor and a 4.3m rigid – both with 63T GVMs and air suspension.

Fuso NZ product planning manager Ian Porter says the two models will tick the boxes for operators of A-Train, B-Train or tipper configurations.

“The new 510hp Shogun’s 12.8-litre OM471 engine is delivering near maximum torque (2,500Nm/1,850lbft) from around 900RPM – so it really hangs on.

We are currently working with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation engineers to ensure that the mapping on the G330 12-speed automated transmission is as well tuned for our customers as the 360hp, 400hp and 460hp units,” says Porter

Launched in April 2018, the Shogun range has rewarded customers with exceptional drivetrain performance, in part due to the extensive tuning of the Shift Pilot transmission software for NZ roads and applications. The 510hp units will also have the most advanced safety systems of any Japanese heavy truck. The latest safety package includes Daimler’s Advanced Brake Assist 5 and Active Side Guard Assist, which will soon be available across the Shogun range.

The first customer units are expected to land in New Zealand towards the end of 2021.
